Account creation
To create a new account, visit the account signup page.
You’ll need to enter your email address and a verification word.
Once you’ve done so, check your email for steps to confirm your account.
Forgot the password for your account? Request a password reset.
postings: a list of posts associated with your account.
drafts: posts that are not fully submitted will appear under this tab temporarily.
settings: change your email address, password, default homepage, and manage your forums handles.
billing: billing and account info for paid posters.
Make changes to your live posts and resubmit your expired posts from the “postings” tab.
edit will bring you to the edit posting screen.
delete will bring you to a confirmation screen where you can confirm the deletion of your post.
repost will let you resubmit a free or paid post.
renew will move your post to the top of the list.
Make a new post from the account homepage
On the far right side of the account homepage, you will see a dropdown list that allows you to select a craigslist city for your post. Select the desired site, click the “go” button. After clicking the “go” button, the posting process is identical to posting without a craigslist account. (If you are having trouble finding the correct craigslist site, please visit our list of available sites, and choose the most appropriate one. )

If you only use your Craigslist account periodically, you might forget your password for it. That’s okay; it happens to the best of us. It also might happen that someone finds a way into your account and uses it without your permission, though that’s rare and we really hope that it doesn’t happen to you. In either case, you should reset the password on your Craigslist account. Here’s how to do it.
To reset your Craigslist password:
Go to in your web browser (which will take you to the sub-site for your local city or region). Click My Account.
Under “Log Into Your Craigslist Account”, click Forgot Password?
Craigslist will now ask you to type in the email address associated with the account that you wish to reset the password for. Click in the box labelled “Email” and type in the email address that you used to sign up for Craigslist. Then click Reset Password.
Craigslist will notify you that it has sent you an email with a hyperlink that will let you reset your password. Go to your email client and log in, and then open the email from Craigslist titled “ Request to Reset Account Password for [Your email address]”. Click the second blue hyperlink (the first one should be your email address).
You will be taken to a screen where you can reset your password. Click in the box labelled “New Password” and type in a new password that you’d like to use for your Craigslist account. Then click in the box labelled “Re-Type New Password” and type in a copy of that password. Finally, click Change Password.
You will see the screen below if you successfully reset your password. Click Go To My Account Home Page to go back to your Craigslist account.
