SoundCloud is great service for music discovery and we use it every day. It allows everyone to publish their own tracks, albums, covers, podcasts, lectures and so on. But if you like to listen to audiobooks and podcasts on SoundCloud you will find one great feature that is misssed in official SoundCloud iOS client. Yes we are talking about playback speed control – useful feature that allows you to increase playback speed for some podcasts and audio books. Many people voted for this feature on SoundCloud Help Community Center here: but no all those users we’d like to present our app called Soundy: the best unofficial SoundCloud player for iOS. It’s FREE and has tons of features like playback speed control, equalizer, audio bookmarks, sleep timer and so on. And now we will show you how can you stream SoundCloud at a different speed. Just five simple steps:1. First what you need is to install Soundy from the App Store:. Then open ‘My account’ screen and enter your login credentials or use ‘Sign in with Google’ or ‘Sign in with Facebook’ buttons:Soundy uses official SoundCloud API and we don’t have access to your login this you will see Account Screen with all your tracks, playlists, albums, likes, followers:3. Open needed category and find track, podcast, audio book you want to play and tap on it to start the player. 4. Open ‘Player’ screen and tap on ‘Speed’ control:5. You can change speed from 0. 2 to 2x with 0. 1x step. This is very useful for podcasts when you need to increase speed with accuracy precision. Anyone else feel the same way? Soundcloud is useless for me for podcasts. Sure hope other people feel the same way. Being able to increase the speed of a track (e. g. 1. 25x, 1. 5x, 2x,… ) is a pretty necessary thread is archivedNew comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast
level 1Who the fuck goes to Soundcloud for podcasts? level 2Op · 3y · edited I recently found a full audiobook there, but it’s useless to me because the guy reads it SUPER slow and there’s no way to increase the playback rate. So… see ya SoundCloud, I guess I’ll have to take my attention-hours somewhere else? You’d think SoundCloud would be interested in the podcast/audiobook market, but they clearly aren’t optimized for it. 1I honestly can’t listen a podcast faster than 1 (like 1. 25x for example) so I do enjoy itlevel 2There are a lot of people that don’t feel that way.

Audio-sharing platform SoundCloud has been working on growing its audience of listeners (as opposed to content creators) over the past couple of years. It started with a website redesign and today, that laser focus on the listener is coming to the iOS app was previously a “Swiss Army knife, ” says Mustafa Sezgin, SoundCloud’s Director of Mobile Engineering. It used to be a tool for both creators and consumers of audio, with the ability to do things like upload audio straight from the app. Now, with simpler navigation, cleaner profile pages and a new interface that’s light on buttons, heavy on gestures, it’s more of a “lean back and enjoy experience, ” Sezgin, as a SoundCloud listener, the new app is a joy to use. Searching for tracks and playlists is a breeze, and the listening screen is a thing of beauty. Sezgin’s team has managed to do away almost entirely with the standard transport controls, like Play, Pause, Fast Forward and Rewind, replacing them with gestures. You drag the waveform left and right to skip backwards and forwards, and swipe to move between tracks in a playlist. Tapping the screen pauses the audio, and only when a track is paused will you see a traditional ‘Play’ creators won’t find as much day-to-day value in the new app as in previous versions, Sezgin says the value for creators is in the expanded audience the simplified app can potentially give them. It’s true that for recording and uploading on the go, there are third-party apps that are more than capable of the task than SoundCloud’s own app ever was; the company itself recommends Retronyms’ Audiocopy iOS app. Still, as a creator, I’d love to be able to browse my detailed listening stats on the move from an app. The relationship between SoundCloud and third-party developers was called into question this week when the team behind Soundflake, an app that acted as an alternative interface for SoundCloud (and one we praised when we reviewed it), announced that SoundCloud had asked them to withdraw the app says that while SoundCloud admires the work of the Soundflake team, the app’s core functionality broke the Terms of Service of the SoundCloud API agreement. Similar to Twitter’s approach, SoundCloud is heavily restricting third-party developers to ensure it stays in control of the core user experience as much as ’s no word on when the SoundCloud Android app may receive a similar upgrade, but the iOS update is available now. ➤ SoundCloud [iOS / Android]Don’t miss: EyeEm’s revamped Android app is all about clutter-free enjoyment of photographyAlso tagged with
