Is RuneScape Still A Thing (& How To Play It In 2020) – Screen Rant

Releasing in 2001, RuneScape was one of the first free MMOs that was actually good. In 2020, people are still playing it and you can too.
When it first launched in early 2001, RuneScape was a free MMORPG that people could enjoy at home (or at work) on the PC. Although the game offered more stats, abilities, and options with a small monthly fee, RuneScape could easily be enjoyed completely free. It was also a good free MMO, which set it apart over the years from some of the more unsavory free-to-play MMOs that have sprouted up since. For almost twenty years, RuneScape has endured. Even now, in the year 2020, people are still playing it.
Developed and published by Jagex, RuneScape is a high fantasy MMORPG that had pretty decent graphics when it initially released. Despite popular MMOs like World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV, RuneScape has managed to keep a dedicated fanbase throughout the years. Although it’s gone through some changes in the last two decades, RuneScape is still very much playable in 2020.
The original RuneScape released in 2001, but a newer version of the game, complete with an updated interface and better graphics, released in 2013 as RuneScape 3. A lot of fans weren’t happy with the new version, causing a mass exodus of users. This ultimately led to Jagex releasing Old School RuneScape to paid subscribers soon after. Old School RuneScape is exactly what it sounds like, and a free version released in 2015, meaning fans of the original game can still enjoy it all these years later without having to pay.
Where To Play RuneScape In 2020
Since the release of Old School RuneScape, the game is still incredibly popular. The servers for classic RuneScape went offline in 2018, but new versions of the game have still netted profits for Jagex. In 2019 alone, the company reported that RuneScape had over one million paid subscribers. Although some fans are still upset over classic RuneScape going offline, a mobile version of Old School RuneScape launched in late 2018 and has been going strong ever since.
It may be 2020, but Old School RuneScape is still very successful. The mobile version of the game had over 5 million downloads in its first year, and is considered to be one of the best mobile games on the market. People can download the app for free, although microtransactions and a paid subscription are available – both of which are pretty standard in today’s market. For anyone eager to give Old School RuneScape a try in 202o, all that’s really needed is a cell phone and an internet connection.
Despite being almost twenty years old, RuneScape remains a popular and profitable MMORPG. In 2020, it’s easier to play than ever. For fans of the original, or for people looking for a free MMO that’s still fun, Old School RuneScape is almost perfect.

The support cape is an Expert cape of Accomplishment that shows the wearer has achieved level 99 in multiple related skills. For the Support cape these skills are Agility, Dungeoneering, Slayer and Thieving.
To get the Support cape, players must train any of these skills after reaching level 99 in order to gain a skill shard for each skill. Once one shard per skill has been obtained, players can combine them to create a Support cape, and a matching cosmetic hood. The shards required for the support cape are the agile, Daemonheim, deadly, and hidden shards.
The Capes of Accomplishment each have a perk. The support, gatherer’s, artisan’s, and combatant’s capes can hold up to two of those perks, from their respective skill sets, by consuming a cape by using the respective cape on the relevant cape. The Cape of Accomplishment cannot be retrieved, which means that switching perks effectively costs 99, 000 coins each time (extra capes are easiest to get from Elen Anterth’s store in the Max Guild). For a list of perks see Cape of Accomplishment#List of Capes of Accomplishment and perks.
The Support cape has the same stats as an ordinary skillcape, and is also capable of boosting its associated skill by +1 for a short period of time.
