How do you open multiple instances of the client?: diablo3

I did it before 2. 2. 0 with a shortcut and the -launch parameter, but now it simply says “Diablo III was unable to find either your file or your Data folder”I remember someone mentioning having to change something, but I can’t find the comment and googling hasn’t thread is archivedNew comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast
level 1If you have a shortcut on your desktop do click on your D3 to propertiesUnder the shortcut in the Target field add -launch at the endMine looks like this “E:\Games\Diablo III\Diablo ” -launchlevel 2Thanks, I’ve got it working, it just wouldn’t launch from the start menu for some reason, even with the -launch 1Not sure, I use ISBoxer and it handles all that automatically for me. You might could check ISBoxer forums and find out the 2Hmm interesting, running the shortcut directly from the d3 folder instead of the start menu worked, thanks
Do I need to buy multiple games to be able to play Diablo 3 with my - Arqade

Do I need to buy multiple games to be able to play Diablo 3 with my – Arqade

I know that the account is connected to your account(I already have one through SC2 and she doesn’t have any yet). I am buying the game tomorrow and I wish to know if one CD is enough. I doubt that Blizzard would allow this as this will obviously make them lose some sales(if a group of friends pool their money and pass the cd around and then play with just one cd alone).
Which brings me to my question:
does it need a CD to play? (SC2 doesn’t so hopefully it doesn’t also)
do I need to buy 2 games? I find it a waste of DVDs especially since you probably don’t need the disc to play the game
is there like just a license purchase of some sort? Kind of like just buy an D3 account or something? Or do I have to buy a digital copy?

Yes. Diablo 3 does not allow offline play. If you want to play with someone else, they must each make it past the log-in screen… which means you will both require a separate copy and associated Diablo 3 licence.
Also of note is that you may only have one Diablo 3 per account, so your wife will need to set up an additional account to be able to play with you.
If you purchase a physical copy, however, you will be able to share the installation disk, but Diablo 3 does not require a CD to run.

You do not need a CD to play
Your Diablo 3 license is tied to your Battlenet account; in other words, though you can use the installation disc to install the basic game on your computer, you will be unable to login to the game servers with your Battlenet account unless you have purchased a license.
As a result, you and your wife will need to buy two copies to play together. You could share one account, but note that this is against the game’s TOS and could result in a permanent account ban(which means you would need lose access to all your characters, progress, and game license, forcing you to buy a new copy).

If you both wish to play the game at the same time, you do need to purchase 2 different games (two different keys). The keys are linked directly with your account. If you log into your account to play and your wife logs into your account – you will be logged out instantly.
You do not technically need to purchase 2 different dvds, but rather 2 different keys. You can do this on Blizzard’s Diablo 3 purchase page. (virtual copy)

Incorrect if you buy the physical DVD you can share to any amount of people and those people will use there own account if you just buy it on your computer you cannot share you can only use your account which means its better to get the disk

I havnt found any answer yet, and nobody seems to care about it.
In d2, there’s no problem to have more than one account on a computer, and a just working cd-key is
required.
I dont play sc2, so i dont exactly know how blizzard login system works, but as far as i know, cdkey is
binded to your account.
If i want to log in another account, then should i reinstall the game to change the cd-key?
thank you in advance.
ps, if this was discussed b4, linked to the thread would be appreciated.
and oh yeah, im in for the beta key contest!!!

I assume this is going to be like WoW, in which you just need to activate a cd-key for each account. So if you want two Diablo III accounts you just need to log-in to your account and but in both activation keys. You would not need to uninstall as the instillation has no bareing on the account. This is how it works for having multiple WoW accounts anyway.

You activate your CD key and attach it to your account. To play Diablo 3, you have to both have an account with D3 active and a constant internet connection. Each of your characters (I assume) are tied to your account also, so they’re saved across computers. You can log in and play from any computer (if I’m I’m confused, this could be completely wrong) that has Diablo 3 downloaded.
While the game requires a constant connection, though, you can play on single player. All of your characters I believe can be used in both single and multiplayer, unlike Diablo 2.

If it works like Starcraft 2, you should have one key per account. Since this will be only playable online, I’m assuming (as well as some other posts here and around the internet) you’ll won’t be able to stack keys on one bnet.

You can login from any computer with d3.
You can login any number accounts from the same computer.
You can login any number accounts from 1 internet connection.
Each person will need to purchase the game as the others have said, but it’s tied to your login, not install.

When you lauch D3 it asks you for your accountt information. You put those in and here we go you play with the accounts linked to said password/login.
Before all that you create an account on and enter your D3 Cd-Key.
If you want 2 accounts you will need to make 2 and enter a different CDkey for each account (buy 2 games). Then there is no problem to play on the same computer, just laumch the game and put the login associated with the account you want to play with.

I am curious as to what application this can have, since you are going to pay for two games. Remember, your gold/ items (in the shared stash) are shared across the account, as well as artisan levels. Having separate accounts means you have 2 gold amounts and two different item pools (although I guess you have more space for items, is this it? ). Also, you will have to level artisans twice (which costs gold and crafting mats maybe).

First of all, thank you for the answers
I will just need one or few more extra accounts for storing items. and yes i know the stash in D3 is very huge when compared D2.
But once its filled up, the number of items that each mule character can hold are still very limited.

I have a friend who is gonna try 2boxing in d3. before the ah change when you have a limited amount of free listings per week having 2 account seems like a good idea if you are gonna do a lot of rmah trading, and currently with the 10 item listing max having multiple account also can have its benefits.

Can you have 2 Diablo 3 accounts?

Once you are both logged in, the secondary player just has to hit the X button to join the game on the main menu (there will be a visual explaining this, as well). That’s all you need to do to play local co-op for Diablo 3!Jun 15, 2017
