An IP Address, also known as “Internet Protocol”, is a unique identifier assigned to a user browsing the internet through their Internet Service Provider (ISP). Just as we use an email address or phone number to identify a person, an IP address is linked to an individual user and can be associated with their online activity. An IP reputation check for each IP address makes it easy to identify high risk users or suspicious payments and clicks. It can be difficult for users to frequently switch an assigned IP address from their ISP, which is why internet users often use proxies, VPNs, or Tor to mask their identity.

Before you configure a proxy server, obtain the host name and port number of your proxy server. If you do not know the host name or port number of your proxy server, ask your firewall administrator.
Steps
Select Account > Preferences.
Click the Advanced button.
The Advanced Settings dialog box appears.
Select the Use these proxy server settings option.
Enter your proxy Server Address.
The proxy server address can be the server’s name or IP address.
Enter the Port number.
Typically, this number is 8080.
Enter your User Name, if required.
Enter your Password, if required.
Click OK twice to save the proxy preference settings.

What’s a Proxy Server?
A proxy server is any machine that translates traffic between networks or protocols. It’s an intermediary server separating end-user clients from the destinations that they browse. Proxy servers provide varying levels of functionality, security, and privacy depending on your use case, needs, or company policy.
If you’re using a proxy server, traffic flows through the proxy server on its way to the address you requested. The request then comes back through that same proxy server (there are exceptions to this rule), and then the proxy server forwards the data received from the website to you.
If that’s all it does, why bother with a proxy server? Why not just go straight from to the website and back?

How Does a Proxy Server Operate?
Every computer on the internet needs to have a unique Internet Protocol (IP) Address. Think of this IP address as your computer’s street address. Just as the post office knows to deliver your mail to your street address, the internet knows how to send the correct data to the correct computer by the IP address.

Free proxy server risks
